King-Chavez Community High School’s Mock Trial Team has once again placed in the Top 10 among competing teams across San Diego County! Since the program began at KCCHS, the team has earned placement in the Top 10 four times. This winter, the team placed 5th among 38 teams! In addition, the following five KCCHS students earned individual awards for their performances:

Round 1 MVP:  Melanie T. Defense Trial Attorney

Round 2 MVP Andres P. Prosecution PreTrial

Round 3 MVP Linzy C. Prosecution Trial Attorney

Round 4 MVP Aimee M. Defense PreTrial

SD County Outstanding Clerk: Lesley M.

The KCCHS Mock Trial Program is an engaging, hands-on education program with an innovative approach– it combines civic education with performance-based academic competition. Working in teams under the guidance of dedicated teachers and attorney coaches, students learn about the law and legal system while enacting roles in trial proceedings. In addition, our students learn more than just the hard facts. They build confidence and public speaking skills, develop critical thinking and reasoning, collaborate as a unified team, and learn how to effectively navigate challenges.

Congrats, Lions! We couldn’t be more proud.
